With every TALA bag, we like to add in a dash of whimsy, wit, and versatility, too. And no two bags are quite like the other: Remove a detachable shoulder strap and a crossbody becomes a wallet. An intrepid and unrelenting spirit, she is a woman of the world, weaving her life experiences and inspirations into each of her thoughtfully created statement pieces.
From her earliest years, as a fashion-obsessed child and a student in London; to her advertising days in New York and Singapore, Tala has relied on style as an essential medium for expression and rebellion. For the mother of four, the idea for her line had been percolating for more than a decade. “Whenever it came time to officially launch my line, I launched a human being, or two, instead.” And so it goes that her brand, TALA, should be the vibrant embodiment of this unwavering commitment to her vision, her no-holds-barred attitude, and her happy, multi-continental existence between Singapore and New York, Lebanon and London.
TALA is first and foremost a brand for the future: one that allows our clients more choices about what they purchase to define their own style. As a fashion house, we equally respect the collectors and buyers who value the luxury of traditional leather products, as well as those who are passionate about beautifully crafted items that are cruelty-free and sustainably made.
TALA adheres to a set of sustainability practices. Our bags and accessories are made from the finest Italian leather, exclusively sourced from certified sustainable farms. Each bag requires three full days to create, and all are hand-sewn and hand-assembled by a team of highly skilled local artisans, in our workshops in Indonesia. We are privileged to witness the talent, passion, pride, and resilience of our homegrown TALA team, and so we return the favour by training and creating jobs for new craftspeople, with special support for our single mothers who need to work from home.
We also have strict guidelines about recycling, and are committed to reusing materials whenever and wherever possible. If something can be repurposed, then we do it—like with our custom Reborn bags, for which we outsource pre-loved luxury materials, and along with our own remnants, create something new and beautiful for our clients. If we can’t reuse, then we recycle whilst complying to the most current protocols available. TALA will remain rigorous about holding fast to our production and sustainability standards as we continue to create our ingeniously crafted luxury handbags and accessories.
