Motherhood introduced a pivotal chapter in Tala's life. It was during this time that she transformed her challenges into opportunities, designing fashionable and functional gear for mothers. Our Designer
Hi, I'm Tala Alamuddin, a British Lebanese designer and founder of the fashion label: TALA by Tala Alamuddin, a brand born out of my passion for self-expression and a deep desire to create accessories that carry a woman throughout her day. I have four children, whom I manufactured every half a decade, sometimes one and sometimes two at a time! I currently reside in Singapore where my brand was born. My brand is all about merging bold authenticity with a free-spirited style, crafting accessories that are versatile and functional but don’t look it. Born from a deep commitment to sustainability and craftsmanship, each piece is designed to empower women, helping them express their individuality with confidence and joy, celebrating their uniqueness. From the vibrant streets of New York to the artisanal workshops in Asia, TALA celebrates the multifaceted lives of modern women. A TALA accessory is no mere statement accessory; it personifies Divine Femininity and maximises functionality. Each TALA design does all it can for you, often incorporating a 'bag in a bag' feature—an inner pouch that transforms into a crossbody or a removable envelope that doubles as a clutch. Many designs also offer the versatility of one side in one colour and the other in a completely different one, providing two looks in one. Some can change shape by unzipping the sides, while others have removable fringe to suit different moods. This versatility not only caters to diverse needs but also reduces the need for multiple bags, making them more sustainable.
We are committed to using only existing materials and never ordering new leather or denim. Clients can also bring us their old bags or even their jeans, which we transform into a totally reloved TALA accessory, giving new life to cherished items. At TALA, fashion is more than just style; it’s a movement rooted in empowerment, embracing empathy, and authenticity, inspiring women to live the life they desire and break free from cultural stereotypes and self-limiting beliefs. Dare to embrace your individuality—dare to be totally TALA, to be totally YOU!My journey began as a young girl in Beirut, navigating the complexities of a hybrid cultural identity when I fled to the United Kingdom with my family escaping the war in Lebanon. This rich and diverse upbringing, combined with my experiences in London, New York, and Singapore, as well as the 80s, shaped the vision for TALA. After a career in advertising and the birth of my first child, Mia, I found myself searching for a ‘baby bag’ that didn’t label me as just a mother or nanny. And so, the MUMmaste was born—a bag designed to be stylish enough to wear even if I weren’t a mother, versatile enough to carry for years to come, and so functional that it later could handle everything I needed for my twins, Jad and Sari and so durable that I used it for my youngest Luca 5 years later too!
Through this, I realised that fashion could be more than just a statement of style—it could be a source of empowerment. TALA was born out of necessity rather than mere desire. I started by creating practical yet chic accessories that liberated me from the traditional constraints of motherhood, blending vibrant design with functionality. When I was let go for being pregnant, it only ignited a fierce purpose within me—to build a community that supports women in living the life they desire. TALA is a celebration of individuality and resilience, crafted for the modern woman who, like me, juggles multiple roles every day. Each piece, from our iconic Rock 'n' Fringe collection to bespoke creations, is designed with intention,
joy, and the spirit of strength and determination.
Our Approach to Sustainability
Sustainability, joy, and empathy are the pillars of TALA by Tala Alamuddin’s existence. Our holistic approach renders sustainability a necessity, and we prioritise the protection of our planet’s precious resources in all our designs. Our bags are crafted exclusively from existing leather in stock at our partner ateliers or provided by our customers, and our zipper tape, glues, and hardware meet the highest ecologically friendly standards. In doing so, we not only safeguard the planet, but the health and livelihoods of the artisans crafting TALA bags and accessories.
Our designs are as resourceful as they are luxurious, often boasting two bags in one, or at the very least, a versatile keychain.
